As we get into April, we are definitely experiencing some unusual times with COVID-19. With several states having “stay home” orders in place this has changed how we typically go about our lives. More people are working from home, places where groups of people gather are closed down, and there is an urgency to do what can be done to stay healthy.
As this has altered many of our routines, it has also given people the opportunity to do things they usually wouldn’t have time for. Situations like this have a way of creating margin in our lives that give us some time we aren’t used to having.
It can be very easy to get stuck looking our phones scrolling through devastating stories. We could also take a different approach in looking at time and opportunities. Instead of focusing on what we don’t have or what was lost, we can look to opportunities to use this time to grow, develop and get better.
How can we learn something new that could improve an aspect our lives? How can we use it to help others? April 2020 is a great time to do so. For me personally, I’m wanting to learn and get a better understanding of nutrition and how I can apply this with the clients I take care of. So, I’m starting to go through the Precision Nutrition education program to do so. This gives me some framework to work from, keeps me focused on a task, and by the end of the month hope to elevate my understanding and application of nutrition.
So I’d challenge you to do the same. Find something new to try out. Something to keep yourself sharp and getting better. It may not be nutrition for you, but find something.
